I want to collect money owed to me - how does a lawyer help me?
We would start with sending a demand letter, and if a satisfactory response is not received, normally the next step would be to issue a statement of claim or lawsuit to recover your funds. Depending on the situation, we charge an hourly fee or can take the case on a contingency basis where the client would not pay a fee unless moneys were collected.
I am thinking of buying a condo - what is your charge for doing my legal work?
The fee depends on a number of factors, which include the purchase or sale price, the type of property and the amount of disbursements. One of our experts will be more than happy to walk you through the process.
Do I have to meet a lawyer in person to sign contracts or can it be faxed back and forth?
Usually, you have to meet with your lawyer but, depending on the situation, some documents can be signed without the presence of your lawyer.

I am a first time home buyer - what does a lawyer help me with?
The lawyer can help with negotiating the agreement of purchase and sale. If the property is a condominium, we will start with the review of a status certificate, prepare the mortgage documentation as required by a mortgage lender, conduct all necessary searches and due diligence, communicate with the other parties lawyer, and then a registration of the deed and mortgage to close the transaction.
